Depression Relief Hypnotherapy

Psychomotor retardation refers to a slowing down of physical and mental processes, including speech, movement, and thinking. It is a common symptom of clinical depression and can make daily activities feel exhausting and overwhelming. This is thought to be linked to Adrenaline.

Anhedonia, on the other hand, is the inability to experience pleasure or enjoy activities that were once pleasurable. It can lead to feelings of emptiness and hopelessness, which can exacerbate symptoms of depression. This is thought to be linked to Dopamine.

Suicidal Thoughts ( ideation ) is a serious symptom of depression and involves thoughts of self-harm or suicide. This is thought to be linked to Serotonin.

Adrenaline, dopamine, and serotonin are neurotransmitters that play important roles in regulating mood, motivation, and reward. Adrenaline is responsible for the body’s “fight or flight” response, while dopamine and serotonin are involved in regulating feelings of pleasure, reward, and motivation.

Research has shown that imbalances in these neurotransmitters can contribute to the development of depression. For example, low levels of dopamine have been linked to anhedonia and feelings of low motivation, while low levels of serotonin have been linked to increased aggression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation.

For nearly 20 years I have worked with people using various forms of hypnotherapy in Newcastle. Most of the people I work with want to change something like anxiety, depression, stage fright … you get the idea right?

If you consider anxiety or can imagine what having anxiety is like, imagine you are a client with anxiety for just a moment. You could say OK Nigel, I want you to help me to have less anxiety or I don’t want to be anxious.

I can say to you OK, so why don’t you just stop feeling anxious now? And you say I can’t. OK I say, so do you want to feel anxious? You reply, of course not! So I reply, then you are being anxious against your will? Is this not doing something against your will? So you are doing something against your will.

Getting this idea very clear is crucial to both being able to accept where you are now and be open to the possibility that you can change old, ingrained patterns in your behaviour and thought.

Understanding hypnotherapy in Newcastle as a form and way of communicating ideas that will both resonate and assist you in making better choices is at the core of hypnotherapy. This is meeting you where you are and and offering you suggestions, not prescriptions, that may change how you think and act.
